"Bučkovec" is the name of the part of a village Moravské Lieskové which belongs to the district of Nové Mesto nad Váhom. Because of the name "Bučkovec," the band which has been created there was given the name " Bučkovanka". Bučkovanka is one of the very famous bands in the region of High Javorina. Its history has been writing since 1906- 1907. The first founder of Bučkovanka was a musically-educated man, Michael Jurikovic from Dolna Suca. The first headmaster of the band was Martin Bucko and later Jozef Janega. Thanks to the fact that the members had a musician education, the band took the higher position in a local culture which has been shown in many of the important entertainments of this band. However, during the World War I, the situation of Bučkovanka had worsened. In 1921, the band had stood up again under the leadership of Jan Jurik from Dolni Nemci. That time, the headmaster became Stefan Chromy and since 1925, Stefan Bulik. In 1947, after being educated, the new headmaster had become Jan Zamecnik. Together with that, the band also took the new name "Kopanicka hudba." In 1959, the name of the music was changed again to the name "Dolinary" and Juraj Buso had become the new headmaster.

The time of 70s had brought big changes in the membership of the band. Since 1974, the function of headmaster had been taken by Jozef Dedik. Since this time, the band has been called the current name "Bučkovanka." Taking the new name and also being renewed by the new younger members, Bučkovanka started to be better from the qualitative point of view. Moreover, the number of the actions and entertainments has increased since that time. Thanks to the leadership of a new headmaster, the songs from the region of High Javorina have been coming to be more and more famous. Jozef Dedik had been at the post of the headmaster until the year 1998. Despite the fact that in the village Moravské Lieskové has been a lot of musician talents, the village could not afford financing all the bands entertaining in there; therefore, Bučkovanka had to change its musician center in 1986. The financing and supporting center became MKS Bzince pod Javorinou - Hruba Strana. This cultural center helped to Bučkovanka a lot from the technical and also instrumental point of view which resulted in improving the quality of Bučkovanka.

The Band has been spreading its entertaining step by step into spa cities, such as, Trencianske Teplice, Piestany, Smrdaky and also Nové Mesto nad Váhom. In 1987-1991, Bučkovanka was cooperating with the songwriter, Jan Renak. This cooperation has brought better, newer and more difficult repertoire to the band. The end of the year 1991 has brought some changes thanks to a new headmaster and also cultural manager, Ivan Trchala. Beside the cultural function, there was created the organizing function as well. The organizing manager had been Ing. Jan Paulina (1987-2005). The repertoire of the band has been still powered by the songs of the Javorina region; however, the repertoire has been expanded with the songs from Czech Republic and Moravia. Moreover, instrumental songs became more successful as well. The local entertainment of the band has been fulfilled by the cultural rhetorical entertainer, Ludovit Halak, as "the uncle Lajos". In order to be really good, Bučkovanka needed to practice a lot. The place for training for the band has been provided by the company, Strojstav, a.s., Nové Mesto nad Váhom in 1993.

Moreover, Strojstav became one of the most important sponsors of the band. Thanks to the fans, the leaders of Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Bučkovanka has gained some of the local sponsors and became a very famous band. During the last fifteen years, the popularity of the band has been increasing by the successful achievements of the solo- players, and the singers as well. These achievements have brought very nice result, recording the first MG tape in 1995. In the same year, Bučkovanka has become a member of ZDHS (the membership of folk bands of Slovakia). In order to improve its quality, Bučkovanka started to cooperate with a famous musician and composer, Jan Jamriska. Under his control and support, the band has recorded another three recordings with one quartet of the singers. The jubilee, fifth recording was made during the cooperation of the new singers and the own sound technicians of Bučkovanka.

Today, the band is very famous in the radio, but in the TV as well. Some of the most famous successes of Bučkovanka are the entertainments in the TV relations such as, "Nasa naj"., "Zahrajte mi takuto," "Anderov Rebrinak," "Senzi Senzus," and TV Pohoda, as well. Bučkovanka has been representing itself during a lot of festivals in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Germany, Belgium, or Holland. Moreover, the band has been acting at a lot of competitions, such as, o "Zlatu Kridlovku" in Hodonin, where was evaluated by the silver placket. - In 1997 - the winner of "Pezinsky skopek" - The "cup" of the leader of the city Bardejov - Winner of "Zlaty hrozen Jizni Moravy" in Mikulov - Triple winner of the competitions of instrumentalists in Banovce nad Bebravou - Success of gaining the golden placket in the competition of Folk bands. Unforgettable actions of Bučkovanka are entertainments in cities such as, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Trencin, Piestany, Trencianske Teplice, Hrusov, Opava, Klatovy.

During these years, the band came through the changes not only in the section of the singers, but also in the function of the band leader. This function was taken by Jozef Dedik, junior, in 2005. Only one think has not changed, Bučkovanka has still been and amateur band. The band is still playing for the happiness not only the fans, but also for the members of the band selves. Because of the fact that Bučkovanka is not professional band, the financial statement of the band is not very positive either. Therefore, the band is supported by the generous financial help of the sponsors. By this way, Bučkovanka would like to express a big "thanks" to these sponsors(, the City Nové Mesto nad Váhom, the local cultural center, Strojstav, a.s., Minitesla, Jasek, s.r.o., Emerson, s.r.o., Tising, s.r.o., and many others).

By the writing of the short review of 100 years old band Bučkovanka, we wanted to show the effort of the non- professional people who wanted to express the beauty of our music. We are trying to extend the range of these musicians by propagating the songs from Javorina at home and abroad as well. Presenting these facts, we would like to express a big "thanks" to the people who are able to evaluate the music of Javorina.

Jedno sa však nezmenilo. Bučkovanka zostáva čisto amatérskou hudbou, ktorá hrá pre svoje potešenie a má radosť z toho, že ho môže rozdávať aj svojim poslucháčom a priaznivcom. Odmeny sa jej dostáva v podobe množstva obdržaných uznaní a hlavne prejavmi sympatií a priateľstva poslucháčov na živých koncertoch. A keďže hovoríme o amatérskej hudbe, ktorá si svojou činnosťou v žiadnom prípade nemôže zabezpečiť existenciu na súčasne požadovanej úrovni, je odkázaná na štedrú pomoc sponzorov. Bučkovanka aj touto cestou ďakuje najmä tým, ktorí ju poskytujú pravidelne už dlhšie obdobie : Mesto a Mestské kultúrne stredisko Nové Mesto nad Váhom a novomestské organizácie Strojstav, a.s., Minitesla, Jasek, s.r.o., Emerson, a.s., Tising, s.r.o. a ďalšie, ktoré s vďakou prezentujeme na našich zvukových nosičoch.

At the end, the big thanks belong also to the people who support the expanding of this band. Although they are not mentioned in this document, they are written in the memories of the history of Bučkovanka.
